Stephan Zweig (1881-1942) Austrian writer, playwright, journalist and famous biographer. He took refuge in Brazil in 1944, but the war destroyed his dreams of humanism forever.
SANDALWOOD: Sandalwood is a tree whose fragrance is extracted from its yellow bark. The Egyptians used sandalwood to embalm mummies. Buddhism considers it to be one of the three integral incenses. Its woody fragrance encourages spiritual practices and relaxation.
PATCHOULI: Patchouli is a tropical plant whose fragrance was first exploited in the 19th century. Long associated with the hippie movement, patchouli has powerful fragrances with earthy, smoky, woody, camphorous and liquorice accents.
YLANG: The ylang-ylang flower gives off a penetrating, spicy scent. Its fragrance symbolises tropical rainforests. Its exquisite flowery scent was discovered in the 19th century and quickly became incredibly popular. Sweet and sensual, ylang-ylang achieved its true success in 1926 with Coco Chanel’s “Bois des îles”.
